The MIT COVID-19 Face Shield design was created for industrial scale fabrication, packaging, and distribution in close coordination with manufacturing partners. It relies on specific material properties and fabrication techniques to maintain the safe integrity of the shield during assembly and use by the wearer. In terms of fabrication, it was designed to be die cut on high-volume die cutting machines. It has not been adapted to or tested with other fabrication processes, such as laser or knife cutting. The MIT Face Shield pattern is not available for laser or knife cutting.
